Get handfull curry leaves
Prepare 2 tbsps oil
Steps to make Pappu Charu (pressure cooker method):
Wash and add toor dal to the pressure cooker.
Add chopped tomatoes and green chillies.
Later add turmeric, redchilli powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder.
Add 2 - 2.5 cups of water and close the lid. Pressure cook for 5 - 6 whistles.
Soak Tamarind in a cup of water.
Open the cooker after the pressure releases. Add salt.
Mash it well and add tamarind juice.
Adjust salt and water, bring it to boil.
Meanwhile prepare the tempering. Heat oil in pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
When they start to splutter add finely sliced onions. Saute it for a min and add crushed garlic pods.
Add dried red chillies and curry leaves. Saute it and switch off the flame.
Add the tadka to the boiling dal and bring it to one final boil.
Serve hot with rice.
