Take 1/2 cup Rice
Make ready 3 tbsp Toor Dal
Get Imli 1/2 lemon size
Prepare 1.5 tbsp Sambar Powder
Take 1 tbsp Salt
Take Jaggery 1/2 inch piece
Prepare Mustard Seeds
Get Ghee
Get Hing
Make ready Leaves Curry
Instructions to make Anna Saaru:
Rice to water ratio - 1:2.25
Dal – add enough water so that the Dal is immersed completely
Add any vegetables on the Dal if needed
Put these in a cooker and let it cook for 4 whistles. Turn the flame from high to medium after the first whistle
Take a pan, Add imli to 1/4 cup of water and heat it. Once heated, squeeze the imli and remove the junk to obtain imli juice
Heat imli juice, then add Sambar powder and Salt
Let this heat and cook for around a minute and mix well
Add Dal from the cooker to the imli juice cocktail and let it boil for sometime
Add curry leaves (optional)
Add water to this mixture if needed to achieve sambar consistency and allow this to boil for sometime
Tadka
Heat ghee
Add mustard seeds, let it crackle
Turn the flame off, then add hing and mix well
Transfer the tadka to sambar and mix well
